Archaeology work in Colne Valley UPDATE

As part of HS2's continued programme of archaeology works in the Colne Valley area, geophysical surveys have already been carried out across the site to identify areas of possible archaeological interest. The next steps will involve excavating trenches and recording and reporting any finds or aspects of interest, with the first site located at Dews Lane off Harvil Road.

These works are due to start on Monday 17 December 2018 and will continue throughout the area, to be completed by spring 2019, although we may experience delays due to bad weather.

What will we be doing?

We will be carrying out the works to get a better understanding of potentially significant archaeological remains identified in this area. Archaeological works elsewhere have already uncovered new and interesting information about where our ancient ancestors lived and the sorts of activities they did there.

For further information about the works, please read the notice that has previously been sent to local residents here.
