Hillingdon’s first HS2 Community and Business Funds award goes to a project to improve the environment of the River Pinn

Hillingdon’s first HS2 Community and Business Funds project has been awarded £66,000.

Registered charity, Thames21 Ltd , work to rebuild the relationship between communities and their rivers; restoring river health and boosting wellbeing and community cohesion in the process. Thames21 connect local communities to their waterways by inspiring them with practical volunteering and river enhancement activities.

The aim of the River Pinn enhancement project is to improve flood mitigation, connectivity and biodiversity along the river. The project will provide events which will involve volunteers carrying out the improvements. As well as the practical volunteering events, Thames21 will also attend community evenings to promote the project, inspire potential volunteers and increase people’s knowledge of the waterways.

The community and business funds are administered and managed by independent community charity, Groundwork UK. For more information on Groundwork and the funds themselves click here .
