Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust is the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK, based across two sites – Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea and Harefield Hospital, near Uxbridge. Harefield Hospital treats teenagers to adults, performing over 100 transplants each year.
This CEF funded project in Harefield will create 'Healing and Peace' gardens to enable patients, visitors and staff to relax and find moments of peace at times of extreme stress by engaging with nature, flora and fauna within the hospital’s accessible grounds. People will be encouraged to actively take part in gardening activities and learn maintenance techniques, and also learn about sustainability by ‘Reducing, Recycling and Reusing’ hospital, household and garden items.
