HS2 Works Notification: Piling works at Harvil Road - further update 27 January 2021

Further to the note regarding the sheet piling at our worksite on Harvil Road last week, we are now in a position to resume the piling. Our contractors SCS have revised their methodology, which will reduce the noise impact as they undertake these exceptionally deep piles.

These sheet piles will allow us to build a new bridge structure which will eventually span both the existing Chiltern line and the new HS2 railway, and which will carry the realigned Harvil Road.

The majority of the trials due to take place today ( 27 January, 2021 ) are not expected to cause any disruption to the local area as we will carefully monitor them to ensure that the predicted noise levels are in line with what is actually being produced on site.

Towards the end of today there may be some short intervals of louder trials which should last no longer than 15-20 minutes while we test the effectiveness of some additional localised noise mitigation.

Once these trials have been undertaken and they have confirmed the noise levels for the revised methodology, we plan to resume our activities to continue the installation of the remaining piles which will be considerably quieter than earlier in the year.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the work carried out either side of Christmas and would like to reassure you that every effort is being taken to ensure that these are resumed in a way that minimises future disruption.

Please see our update notification.
