HS2 Works Update: Works in Harvil Road, Herlwyn Avenue and Ruislip Golf Course

We are working closely with our construction partners to review the works on all our construction sites in line with Government and Public Health England (PHE) advice on dealing with Covid-19. The Government’s current Covid-19 strategy makes clear that construction activity can continue as long as it complies with this guidance, which you can see by clicking here .

The below works are going ahead as our contractors are confident that they can operate in line with PHE and industry guidance, protecting our staff and the communities in which they are working.

Harvil Road, gas diversion works resume

Cadent is carrying out work to complete a gas pipe diversion it started in the area last year. We expect the work to be completed by October 2020. Cadent will be working on land either side of Harvil Road, north of the Chiltern Mainline while we carry out the rest of the diversion. This will involve:

  • Setting up a small compound within our existing working area off Harvil Road
  • Installing the new pipe underneath Harvil Road
  • Connecting and testing the new pipeline
  • We will be accessing our working area using existing HS2 site entrances off Harvil Road.

Ruislip, ground investigations at Herlwyn Avenue

We will be carrying out ground investigation work in the road along Herlwyn Avenue from 15 June for two weeks. This will involve drilling two bore holes to take core samples of the ground.

For more information please see the notice sent to local residents by clicking here .

West Ruislip, closure of footpath U81 through Ruislip Golf Course

As the HS2 worksite at West Ruislip becomes bigger and busier, we must ensure the safety of people who currently use Footpath U81 and maintain the security of the worksite. We have kept the footpath open for as long as possible, but we have now reached a stage that requires its closure.

Hoarding will be placed around the site and this will involve cutting across the footpath which will result in its closure. A diversion will be put in place with clear signage to help residents.

We understand that for the first month of the closure Thames Water have closed part of the Hillingdon Trail to the south side of The Greenway. To aid residents who are walking the Hillingdon Trail, we will ensure that the signage at The Greenway junction with Ickenham High Road will indicate the fastest way to re-join the trail where it remains open.
