Network Rail Works Reminder: 31 March - 5 April 2020

Network Rail would like to remind residents about some upcoming work as per the letter dated 21 November, which you can see by clicking here .

Tonight (Tuesday 31 March 2020), there will tamping work taking place over night, this is where a large machine vibrates the ground to ensure the stone ballast has properly settled.

There will also be a scrap train on site overnight from 4 – 5 April (Saturday night – Sunday morning).

There will be potential for disruption during both of these shifts due to the type of equipment that is being used. There will be some noise from the loading of materials into the train and the tamping process. For safety reasons, there will also be the sounding of the horn prior to train movements to alert staff. There are noise monitors in place on site and there will also be alarms set up on these monitors to notify the team if the noise thresholds are being approached.

All site staff have also been briefed on their obligation to work considerately in the local community. If you have any questions or queries regarding this, please telephone their 24 hour helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or visit https://www.networkrail.co.uk/communities/contact-us
